Passport Replacement FAQ

Passport Replacement

Will the number on my new passport be the same with the one I’m replacing?

No, both numbers will be different and unique.

Until when can my passport be valid?

The validity of your new passport is different from your old one. A new passport comes with a new date. You will be given 10 years validity if you are 16 years old and above, but if you’re a minor (15 years below) you will be given 5 years.

I have extra photos of the same picture I used on my last passport. Can I use the same photo?

No, your photo should be different from your last passport.

What should I do if I’m traveling outside the US and I need to replace my passport?

You can replace your passport outside the US, just look for the closest US consulate general or embassy. Read this blog for more details!
