Passport Appointment Overview

Traveling soon and need to schedule a passport appointment either at the post office or a regional passport agency? We can help you navigate the appointment murky waters as many U.S. citizens applying for a passport have extreme difficulty with this simple task. There are a few places where you need to make an appointment for passport processing.

First is when you need to apply for a new passport and need to be verified at a local acceptance agency. An acceptance agency is classified as a post office, county clerk, and now even a public library.

The is for routine and expedited processing within 2-3 weeks. The other reason you will need to make a passport appointment is at a Regional Passport Agency when you have imminent international travel plans within the next 2 weeks. You do not need to make an appointment for a routine passport renewal.

Schedule a passport appointment at an Acceptance Agency

Some of the current banter surrounding making an appointment at the local acceptance agency is no one picks up the phone, or it is weeks or months out to be seen for the next available appointment. There is currently no online system to view availability to make an appointment and when you can get someone on the phone hopefully it will fit into your schedule.

We have a list of walk-in facilities as well where no appointments are needed. A great resource we have found for an aggregated database of all the local passport acceptance agencies under on roof is at PassportOffices.com Users have the ability to filter and search based on certain criteria.

Schedule a passport appointment at a Regional Passport Agency.

In order to make an appointment at a regional passport agency, you must show proof of travel within two weeks or require a visa within 30 days. This is when you need a passport fast. All 26 regional passport agencies require an in-person appearance unless you are using a registered passport expeditor. There are two options to make an appointment.
